moving slow

fill in the blank

campers wear flannel
some bearin’ grins
by the BoStin channel
mid-stream…pelicans

bobbing synchronized
they’ve got anchovy locked-in
so full they can’t fly
waitin’ for digestion

gulls tag along
up ‘n down peli’s flap
lifting bodies weigh a ton
a hundred wings…slap, slap, slap

others stay,  more arrive
guard their bounty,  floating
two dozen group to show their size
fat pelicans sit gloating

right here today,  on the bo bay

Still is prime in Bobo time
Slow and steady etch this rhyme
Ear leans to jet engine whine
In the distance fog horns chime

Earth
Boats
Unbirthed

Tides
Low
Walk
Row

Rolling waves
Birds tweet sweet
Seal heads poke
Emerging blurs greet

Sun burnin’ through
Hazed mist so new
Born out of the blue
I pretend there’s a view

Right here today
On the Bo Bay

Holey smoke’s not happening here
No pukas in the sky
No blue shining through
This state-sized firefly

Been burnin’
Wind’s churnin’
Five days running
Flames so cunning

Entering Bo channel
An angler returns
From purple haze out there a-ways
He’s glad oceans don’t burn

Ridge above red-orange lagoon
Reflects washed browns and greens
Sun’s a-blur with smokey fur
Solar beams thru blaze-born screens

Tides recede calm as can be
Shorebirds are the weather-eyes
Two or three soar craftily
Seek shelter from polluted skies
